Original Fundraiser Ideas
Sometimes it helps to come up with original fundraiser ideas instead of using the same ones that have been used year after year. If you look around in your community, you'll see the replication of efforts every year with the different walks and marathons that occur, and even the ice plunges that are a part of the winter months. That doesn't mean that the number of participants is decreasing, but on the other hand, new fundraising ideas may create an increase in interest for a particular event. For example, a family who never goes out to a restaurant for pizza may do so if it means supporting an organization that is going to put the profits toward a cause in which the family actively participates such as better education, childhood diabetes, and many more. You might even consider asking those in the community for some free fundraising ideas. It doesn't hurt to involve the community in the fund raising ideas—after all, these will be the people you will be asking to support your cause, so asking them for ideas for fundraising activities may increase their involvement.
Developing good fundraising ideas that have not already been tried is not as difficult as it seems Even if you can't think of completely unique fundraising ideas, if you can suggest one that has not been overused, you will still increase your chances of success. Sometimes people are not aware of the number of companies who are willing to participate in fundraising efforts. If you take the time to develop some simple fundraising ideas, you may even find that if the organization doesn't already participate, they may be willing to try it and see what happens. Certainly it's no going to be overnight because if it's not already in place, they will need approval from their corporate office, but you have at least presented another non profit fundraising idea that is different from others.
Does that mean that all existing ideas should be swept under the rug? Of course not! Don't all of us look forward to Girl Scout Cookies every year? It just means that there is room for other school fundraising ideas as well as non profit fundraising ideas in order to keep the contributors interested. Whether you're develop church fundraising ideas, adoption fund raising ideas, or just a new easy fund raising idea, being successful means that your idea must appeal to those who have a desire to help your cause. New fund raiser ideas are likely to draw in new contributors, and thus increase the amount of money that your fundraising efforts generate for that particular campaign.
